First Batch of Preserves

This weekend I made up my first ever batch of preserves! Using my new favorite book, The Big Book of Preserving the Harvest: 150 Recipes for Freezing, Canning, Drying and Pickling Fruits and Vegetables by Carol W. Costenbader, I made 8 half pints of carrots with vinegar and honey and 5 half pints of blackberry preserves. Best of all, I used carrots and blackberries from our own backyard! It remains to be seen whether or not they are tasty, but they sure look good!
