I found this on Treehugger today. This resourceful guy figured out how to make his own solar panels out of cells he bought on eBay and stuff from the hardware store. It takes 36 of these cheap little cells to make a panel that will charge a 12 volt battery — but you know what I always say: “Convenience costs.” This project is a little over my head but I’m sure Matt and Aaron will have no problem with it. I think we may just have to build one. It would be a great first step on our journey towards our goal of an energy self-sufficient homstead with grid intertie (the kind where the power company pays you).
